Her birthplace was at San Francisco, California she was raised south of San Francisco in Menlo Park. Walter Smith was an IT market researcher and Lora Smith worked as a therapist. Courtney Smith was a resident of the same home as both of her parents, at different times. Jennifer, her elder sister is employed in the field of advertising. She attended Menlo-Atherton High School (Atherton, California) as well as Tamalpais High School (Mill Valley, California) with a graduation ceremony in the year 1985.
